A.R.T. History
Couldn’t resist borrowing that title from queerstork, who I believe borrowed it herself. I am an art history nerd, what can I say. Anyway, what follows is a brief overview of how we got to where we are now.
September 2008
- After 6 years together, we make it legal in Massachusetts.
November 2008
- Research commences. Books are purchased and read. Discussions begin in earnest.
March 2009
- March 27: We meet with who we think will be our doctor, but reject her out of general principle due to her lack of comfortable bedside manner.
April 2009
- April 1: We meet with the doctor at the Fancy Fertility Factory, where I have an ultrasound. We decide to go with this doctor.
- April 17: We fly to San Francisco and make The Ask of The Other’s brother.
May 2009
- May 4: Mandatory psych evaluation. Hooray, we’re normal and cleared for takeoff.
- May 17: After a discussion with The Other’s brother over the phone, we decide to go with an unknown donor.
June 2009
- June 2: We order sperm.
- June 10: Cycle Day 1–first try begins!
- June 12-16: I take Femara.
- June 22: ultrasound finds one dominant follicle on each side. Trigger shot of ovidrel.
- June 23: IUI #1
July 2009
- July 6: negative pregnancy test.
- July 8: CD1. Second try begins!
- July 10-14: I take Femara.
- July 20: ultrasound in morning; ovulation status unclear until mid-afternoon; trigger shot of ovidrel at 11:30p.m.
- July 22: IUI #2
August 2009
- August 3: negative pregnancy test.
- August 6: CD1. Come on #3!
- August 8-12: Femara.
- August 18: ultrasound and ovidrel shot in morning
- August 19: IUI #3
September 2009
- September 1: negative pregnancy test.
- September 2: CD1.
- September 4: consultation with doctor.
- September 10: HSG. Tubes clear.
- September 28: purchase 3 more vials.
October 2009
- October 5: CD1. Try #4 begins!
- October 7-11: Femara.
- October 16: ultrasound and ovidrel shot in morning.
- October 17: IUI
- October 30: WE ARE PREGNANT! Beta #1 clocks in at 90.
November 2009
- November 2: STILL PREGNANT! Beta #2 clocks in at 581.
