21 1/2 weeks, and spring is in the air
Before getting pregnant, I was all about skirts and dresses, but over the past few months I have been in pants only. Today, I am wearing a dress for what may be the first time since October 30, when I wore one in celebration of taking a positive hpt in the morning. Even that day, I remember the dress and tights feeling a little snug already. Since then, I have either been incapable of wearing a dress, due to lack of maternity tights, or it has been too freaking cold. But a couple of weeks ago I got a cute little maternity number at TSWTSTLLYSAAI and busted it out this morning. Spring must be on its way, even if it’s not here quite yet.
Not much to report here. We’ve been keeping the house as sparkling as possible for showings, and have had quite a few, as well as an offer, which was way too low. But things are promising on that front. And in a mere two weeks, we will be headed to my hometown in the mountains of Virginia for a kick-ass baby shower that my sisters are throwing for Mama Jae and me. Our registry is in good shape, I think. What do y’all think about registering for things like clothes and toys and books? We have a lot of the basics on our list (and who knew there were so many?), like the car seat and carrier and breast pump and burp cloths etc., and I’m thinking that in terms of the funner stuff, like toys and clothes, people like picking those things out themselves. Am I going to be mad at myself for leaving stuff like that off?
Here I am last night, at 21 weeks, 4 days:

I've been to many baby showers, and many of the moms-t0-be mentioned how they couldn't believe just how much clothes they were given! So maybe you can put a few outfits on the registry, but I think the odds are pretty good that you will get tons of cute little outfits!
As a frequent shower-goer, I can say that picking the fun stuff is the best part! We know 4 IRL pregnant people (and it was 5 until just a couple of weeks ago, when my bff gave birth), and we go out all the time and pick up the cute stuff. We literally have a closet full of stuff, divided into bags, awaiting the respective showers.
The great thing about your house being on the market when you don't HAVE to move is that you can reject the low ball offers w/o being worried. When we sold our first house, it was nerve wracking b/c we had to move up here!
You look great! And hurray for Spring!
you look fantastic! what a cute bump! wow, i cant believe you are 21w4d already – past the 1/2 point!!
imo, you dont need to register for small stuff – clothes, books, toys, etc. people will get you tons of that because its fun to shop for. if you do want to register for clothes, my only advice would be to go for older stuff – 6-9months+. people like to buy tiny newborn clothes, but they outgrow it so fast – its nice to have some (free) stuff for the later months.
Love the belly! And glad things seem to be moving with the house.
I wouldn't register for clothes or toys unless you see something you absolutely. must. have. Otherwise, you will get clothes and toys regardless. And want to pick out more yourselves
Is there a fairly new mom that can take a look at your registry with you? I would say, stick to the basics. People will give you lots of cute fun stuff. How can they not? It is simply irresistible.
You look great! Love the bump, Mama Bea. Have fun shower shopping!
um. What's “TSWTSTLLYSAAI” mean?! Just when I thought I was conversant in TCC abbreviations!
Sorry for the confusion–see my previous post. I was just being obnoxious.
You look great! I say register for things of all different price ranges–I feel irritated when people I don't know all that well only register for expensive stuff when I'm really only willing to spend like $25 on them.
I wouldn't register for clothes–you'll get tons anyway and they outgrow them so fast!
You look fabulous!
I'd say skip registering for clothes and toys. Use the registry to force people to buy you things that you really need. In fact, it looks like you can actually put diapers on your registry too. (Go ahead, look at how expensive diapers are and then tell me it wouldn't be nice if other people bought a nice stockpile of them for you). Even if you don't register for clothes, people are going to buy them for you anyway. Especially since you know the sex of the baby. And you'll probably get even more clothes since it's a girl. The other problem with getting clothes at a baby shower is that people tend only to think about the immediate need. You'll probably get tons of clothes in the 0-3 month size, many of which the Bao won't even get a chance to wear before she's up to the next size.
How cute are you!?! You look great!
I say register for the important stuff and pray you get some of it. If people choose to buy you fluff they will want to buy the fluff they want to buy and probably won't even glance at your registry.
Hoping you get a great offer on the house very soon.
